330 Consulting was set up to allow me to work directly with different organisations that are involved in the UK pensions investment marketplace, with a specific focus on the LGPS. My main objective is to deliver a truly bespoke solution for each client’s specific requirements, using all of my investment and pensions knowledge and experience. Here’s some of the services I provide:

Independent Investment Adviser

I work directly with LGPS Committees, Investment Panels and Officers, providing independent challenge on investment strategy, risk and responsible investment. This includes attending Committee and Panel meetings, advising on strategic asset allocation, manager/Pool oversight, investment performance monitoring and Elected Member training and support. My current roles at Lancashire and Northamptonshire were both appointments made specifically to bring constructive, evidence-based challenge to the table alongside Officers and professional advisers.

Independent Person

The Independent Person role has been introduced as part of the Government’s updated LGPS fund governance framework, giving Funds an additional layer of independent scrutiny alongside their Committee and Senior Officer. I bring over 30 years of LGPS experience — spanning fund investment management, investment consultancy and independent advisory work — to provide informed, collaborative challenge that supports good decision-making without becoming an obstacle to it.

Governance Reviews

Structured, independent reviews of a fund’s governance arrangements — how decision-making, roles and reporting operate across Committee, Investment Panel, Officers and sub-groups — benchmarked against regulatory requirements and current ‘Fit for the Future’ expectations. Delivered through stakeholder interviews and questionnaires, with a practical future-state governance model and transition plan as the output.

Elected Member Training

Bespoke, targeted training sessions for Committee and Board members, covering topics from core investment concepts through to responsible investment considerations.

Monitoring External Providers

Independent support and a second perspective when monitoring investment managers, consultants or custodians — plus ad hoc project work and short-term or interim investment officer cover.

Responsible Investment

Support with RI policy development, stewardship and RI reporting, drawing on my ongoing work with Minerva Analytics.
