I’m David Crum, and I’m the Owner and Director of 330 Consulting. I began my career in the financial services industry in 1988 in Edinburgh, working in the investment back office of Scottish Provident, before moving in to the Local Government Pensions Scheme (LGPS) world in 1996, working for the Lothian Pension Fund, where I had a number of different roles.

In 2004, I joined the Strathclyde Pension Fund in Glasgow, taking up the role of Chief Investment Officer for the multi-billion pound scheme. Over the next 3 years, I worked closely with the Head of Pensions, other Senior Officers, Elected Members (‘Trustees’) who comprised the Pensions Committee, external investment managers and custodians, and independent advisors and investment consultants.

2007 saw a slight change of tack in my career when I joined Aon (then Hewitt Associates) as an investment consultant, focussing primarily on helping to develop the LGPS client base, advising LGPS clients, and working in the specialist custody research team, which I subsequently headed for over 3 years.

In 2012 I decided to go out on my own and set up 330 Consulting, with the aim of working directly with pension funds, asset managers, global custodians and other firms in the investment and custody industries who provide services to the UK pensions market.

I hold the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), I have a postgraduate Diploma in Investment Analysis from Stirling University, and I am an Associate of the CFA Society of the UK (ASIP).
